First Ever Online Townhall

Dan was able to take questions for an hour tonight on many issues. This has to be the first time that a Liberal politician has been able to act in such an interactive online forum.

Jamie Callingham, the New Media chair for the campaign moderated the questions, and kept Dan answering them at a good pace. He edited and moderated the order of the questions sent on facebook and twitter, as well as those in the ustream chatroom.

Dan took questions on the issues of gas prices, the green shift, Omar Khadr, transportation in Durham Region, Western Alienation, and various other issues.

Dan was able to use his depth of knowledge to frankly and honestly answer every question given to him. He didn't use the spin and rhetoric we usually associate with Stephen Harper and Jack Layton.

The Townhall Meeting will be shown on the votemcteague.ca website by tomorrow. Feel free to watch it and make your own judgements on one of the members of the strong Liberal team.

Dan McTeague Visits Hamilton Mountain

On Tuesday September 16, 2008, the Dan McTeague Energy tour came to Hamilton Mountain. Dan McTeague visited the campaign office of Tyler Banham. Dan has never met Tyler before, but they hit it off really well and Dan was impressed with Tyler's grassroots approach and passion for the Liberal party.

Dan and Tyler discussed gas prices, as well as the consular issues which is an important issue in a riding as diverse as Hamilton Mountain. The enthusiastic crowd ate up the story of Dan helping a constituent of the Mountain get out of a tough situation in a foreign country.

After doing some press, and talking with the crowd. Dan and Tyler hit the ground running doing a canvass. They worked hard to complete a poll, and Dan and Tyler spread the Liberal message of the green shift and the Office of Petroleum Pricing Monitoring Agency which would help to ensure fair and transparent pricing for gasoline in Canada.

After Canvassing a poll, Tyler left a distinctive impression with Dan.
Dan said of Tyler. "We need to get Tyler elected in the House of Commons, He will give the people of Hamilton Mountain a grassroots voice and will represent his community with distinction."

Dan Visiting Heather Carter's Campaign Opening in Niagara West Glanbrook

Dan's busy Monday concluded with a bang, as Dan visited the Campaign office of Heather Carter, the Liberal candidate for Niagara West Glanbrook official campaign office opening. There was crowd of over 150 people there to see Dan and Heather talk about the Green shift and a richer, fairer, Greener Canada.

The Liberal association in this riding has a great amount of enthusiasm and energy, and will probably surprise a lot of people in the election. The gas issue is very important in a riding as vast and varying as Niagara West Glanbrook, and Dan's message resonated with the audience.

Dan gave a rousing speech, and ended up hanging around for about an hour talking to local citizens about many different issues they had. It was a very successful event, and shows that the Liberals have strength in all parts of Ontario.

Dan McTeague Energy Tour stops in Burlington

On Monday afternoon, Dan's energy tour shifted to the important swing riding of Burlington. Dan met up with Paddy Torsney, who served Burlington from 1992-2006 as their MP.

Dan and Paddy talked about gas prices and the oil industry's recent profiteering off the Canadian public. Paddy and Dan went on to discuss the R.E.S.P bill, which the current member of parliament in Burlington voted against. Dan went on to field questions from the audience.

Afterwards, Dan and Paddy went on a canvass where the dominating issue of the afternoon was gas prices, and what The Green Shift will do to help cope with the monopolistic oil industry
